Updates to Celebrate!

November 24 2019
To all Sylvan Lake Curling Club members:

On behalf of the Sylvan Lake Curling Club, we would like to pass on the following sent by our Viewpoint Lounge regarding the Bull Riders event.

To the volunteers that helped out in the lounge over the three days of the bull riding finals.  We have received several compliments on the lounge operations from the weekend, and the one that sums it up best was this one: “Of course you were busy in the lounge.  Everyone was coming up from downstairs because the food was better, the drinks were better, and the service was better.”
The volunteers did almost all of the food preparation and helped out a lot with cleaning tables and other aspects of service delivery.  One of them even had her ProServe and helped serve drinks and run a portable bar.  We couldn’t have done that level of service without their help so thank you very much.  Awesome job!”

Thanks so much to all of our volunteers – without you, our club and lounge operations would not be successful.  You are greatly appreciated!

Thanks again, Your Sylvan Curling Club & Viewpoint Lounge Families

The Curling Alberta Annual Awards Celebration took place on Saturday June 8th, 2019.

We would like to extend a huge congratulations to Reece Brigley, who won the Curler’s Corner Youth Sportsmanship Award, and Bruce Cartwright who won Curling Alberta’s Volunteer of the Year!
We are so fortunate to have such positive, dedicated members as part of our club. Great job Reece and Bruce!!

As the 2018/19 season comes to an end, we'd like to extend our appreciation to the curlers, volunteers, staff and of course- our Ice Maker, Roger!

New to the Sylvan rink, boasting 22 years of ice making experience, Roger has been able to fine tune and offer the ice consistency we all enjoyed this season. Changing the airflow pattern and addressing the Brine were a few major components to this success. Years of maintaining multiple rinks in the Edmonton area, Roger, his 2 siblings, father and uncle were responsible for the ice making. It's safe to say it runs in the family!

As we continue to grow the club, further improvements are coming for next season including new scoreboards and curtains. Thank you to all for a great season. Enjoy the summer and let's hurry hard again in the fall!!
